  • Teaching Kindergarten is awesome.

That is my update. I don't really have time to update right now, but I am updating for the sake of updating. Hahaha.

I guess I will write one story.

We were in class and I was teaching the children about the Food Pyramid (it is completely different from the old pyramid we were used to seeing as kids) and we came to the Meat Group. I had a worksheet for them to color and the normal meats were there like Turkey, Chicken, Fish, and Steak. However, there was a picture of peanuts and eggs. So I asked the class if they knew why those two foods were present in the Meat Group and one boy's hand shot up. I called on him and he said, "Because they're high in protein!" and I was utterly shocked that he knew the correct answer (my Kindergahtners are wicked smaht <~ my Boston accent). Anyhow...I hand out the worksheet for them to color and I also ask them to label the pictures so that they could practice sounding out words and writing. The first boy to finish hands his sheet to me and I ask if he had labeled his pictures as well. He nods his head and walks over to the legos to play with them. I am reading his words and under peanuts he wrote, "P-e-n-u-s." HAHAHAHAHA. I almost burst out laughing and called him over. I point to the word and sound out the word for him, emphasizing the "t" in the word. He hears it and squeezes a "t" in there and then I tell him, "Good job =). You can go play."

At least three other students wrote it the same way because that's how it sounds.

    Can't blame 'em though...I guess a "penus" is technically a meat...LOL -_-'
